Why Computers Sometimes Crash!
by Dr. Seuss
If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port, and the bus is interrupted at a very last resort, and the access of the memory makes your floppy disk abort, then the socket packet pocket has an error to report.
If your cursor finds a menu item followed by a dash, and the double-clicking icon puts your window in the trash, and your data is corrupted cause the index doesn't hash, then your situation's hopeless and your system's gonna crash!
If the label on the cable on the table at your house, says the network is connected to the button on your mouse, but your packets want to tunnel to another protocol, that's repeatedly rejected by the printer down the hall.
And your screen is all distorted by the side effects of gauss, so your icons in the window are as wavy as a souse; then you may as well reboot and go out with a bang, 'cuz sure as I'm a poet, the sucker's gonna hang.
When the copy on your floppy's getting sloppy in the disk, and the macro code instructions is causing unnecessary risk, then you'll have to flash the memory and you'll want to RAM your ROM, and then quickly turn off the computer and be sure to tell your Mom!
Well, that certainly clears things up for me! How about YOU???
ADDICTED TO WORDS
No, it's not a sudden change in my state of mind regarding Lit. But I'm in a sudden reading mood. Reading for fun, that is. In the past month, I've purchased about 10 books, only 1 was bought at full price, thanks to Mrs. M. I'm reading Blood of Heaven by Bill Meyers, purchased for $5 instead of $13 @ book warehouse. I also bought Basic Programming for Dummies, Javascript, Photoshop 6. My actual non-Christian, fiction, non-geeky (okay, maybe not NON-geeky) book is Battlefield Earth. Yeah, the movie was the worst ever known to man, but the book won some great awards. Today I picked up the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey and a neat little book called BIG SECRETS! When will I finish them? probably never since I have about 10 other books sitting on my shelf. If you're offended that I can't finish the books like I am, feel free to mass mail my Lit. teacher.

SATURDAY NIGHT...continued
starbucks
can't believe how much starbucks i had this past week. i'm nearly sick of it. 3 frapps. oh, i also had a jamba juice, no wireless access included
hotels
all the hotels/motels we stayed at were pretty crappy. no more comments about that. just don't stay in a Ho-Jo.
i'm not counting, but i think there is only 34 more days of school left, in addition to 3 essays, 2 novels, 15 tests, 5 projects, and one really weird event. sucks when you've come back from visiting colleges and it comes down to this

SATURDAY NIGHTS
I just got back from So. Cal. I drove nearly 700 miles this week. Not bad for my first 7 days as a licensed driver. My vacation was filled with fun, excitement, and frustration.
colleges
I visited Cal Poly, UCLA, Cal Tech, and UCSD this week. Cal Poly was nice because it was small, but SLO was sort've small and boring. I really liked UCLA's campus and the surrounding area wasn't bad (better than USC), except it's a REALLY huge school, and you're living in like 10-story dorms. Cal Tech was cool because it had the organization of an Oxford-type university. Definitely not for undergrad; curriculum is way too hard and AP courses do squat. UCSD was awesome because it was at the beach, so it was nice and cool. Wasn't too big either. You don't live in dorms, but you live in apartments with 9, yes 9 other guys.
i'm waiting until i really need to decide which college to go to...
LA
geez, LA is tough. Lanes are so narrow, streets are confusing. Green turn arrows don't exist either. maybe i'm spoiled.
back @ home
i've got one more day of vacation left. what sucks when you enjoy vacation but your teach. doesn't is that you slack off until the last moment so you have to do homework during your last day. it's like the weekend all over again.

Tomorrow's the day...it's the dreaded driving test. Hope I don't get the "scary larry" of Concord, hope it doesn't rain, hope the streets are reasonably empty, hope some freak in the lane next to me doesn't decide to ruin my day...

Look anything like me? (besides the eyes). If it looks decent, i'll make an attempt to draw the lower body and use it as my kind've logo. Wish I could make it like Chris Pirillo's caricature.
FASTER THAN MRS. M CAN DISCUSS HAMLET (an inside joke for vchs'ers)
I finished ARMAGEDDON in a pretty good time. 3 days, 1 hour, and 10 minutes (of course not all reading). Not record time, though. I finished Desecration and the Remnant in less than 24 hours. Talk about ultra-fast. Don't expect me to discuss my viewpoint or anything like that. Ruins the book and my life.

THE 32-BIT COLOR KILLS ME...I FEEL LIKE I'M BEING SUCKED IN...WHOA...
My monitor is falling faster by the minute. Right now there's a fat bar the size of 1 1/2 blue toolbars that keeps flickering on and off. And if I try to adjust the vertical size or position, it turns dark black like some slime ate it, yummy. man, it just flickered off. how to fix it, anyone?

OVERDUE FINES ARE SO OLD-SCHOOL
Today I went to the grand opening of the Dublin Library. Very nice, much better than the old one. Not much like Pleasanton, which some people anticipated. Pleas. has gray tones, Dublin has brown tones. Their book collection got bigger too. They've got a graphic novel section, and their computer section alone is twice as big as it used to be. Thing is, quiet is no longer associated with the library, but that's ok. Now, let's actually develop a "downtown" area of Dublin that looks more decent than mid-70's strip malls. not very appealing...
Speaking of books, I finally picked up Armageddon, the latest Left Behind book. It's okay so far, I read like 100 pages in an hour. Too much dialogue though, get's confusing and it's just plain cheap.

SHALOM!
Yesterday, I was culturally enriched. I went with my mom and some friends to what the Jewish people call a Freedom Sedar. It must've been a huge thing since 2 newstations and a newspaper were there. Anyways, at this Sedar, they read from a book, sing prayers and songs, and eat symbollic food, which included parsley, horseradish, and crackers (basically). I found it very interesting. Wasn't really a "feast" per se, but it was worth it. Some things I learned from last night:
1.) Woman wear yamakas
2.) Woman can be rabbi's
3.) If you have 3 things: an ark, a light, and a torah, you've got yourself a synagogue
4.) Jewish people aren't always somber and don't always mumble prayers. They laugh when someone can't say a 13-stanza Jewish poem in one breath, and they enjoy saying how politicians and clergy are so full of hot air
5.) Jewish food isn't only gilfilkah fish and crackers.
6.) A guitar is known to the Jewish religion!
I thank Yahweh...that's God, for enriching me with a bit of Jewish culture and religion

ALAN GREENSPAN WINS WHILE WE GET SCREWED
i've got little to report about today. allergies are usual and i got these two fatty blisters on my hand from playing golf.
neways, our student council is proposing this strange fundraiser that my teach claims existed in their days. either, we:
A.) Get out of the whole darn thing by scrounging up $10, or
B.) Submit ourselves to the authorities (being everyone who's for it) and we are "bought" by any student and teacher. as their slave...umm...excuse me BONDSERVANT (sheesh!), we have to act as chauffeur. we have to tote books, open doors, get them food, clean toilets, whatever. sounds okay, but not until we have to dress up anyway they tell us to. so either way you'll be labelled a fool, whether it's for chickening-out or for looking like a demented woman.
and all this goes towards something i'm not attending. NOPE, prom isn't for geeks. it costs too much and it's not one of those things that i do, let alone go to dances. WHY BE FORCED TO GIVE MONEY AGAINST YOUR WILL OR SUBMIT YOURSELF TO JUNIOR HIGHERS??? it's nice and all that the sophs are trying to raise $ for prom, but if we have prior commitments, then why force us to cooperate?

TO BE OR NOT TO BE...I THINK NOT
I hate english. i hate writing essays. i hate discussing, defending, and drawing inferences. i also hate reading shakespeare. we're reading hamlet right now and i understand zero. it's all over my head when mrs. m starts drawing these deep thoughts about a book i can't understand. how else am i supposed to know what hamlet is feeling when he says a villain can smile in denmark? (okay, that was an easier one. don't even start with some of the other ones...*sigh)
i solved about 1% of my problem by being one out of possibly 3 ppl in my class picking up a cheat book on hamlet by barron's. it contains the modern english parellel. now instead of "you're on the hour" it's "you've hit the dot!". of course this will do squat, once the infamous essay comes, all understanding vanishes and is considered obsolete. it's just you, your paper and pencil, and your brain that begs to go "I can think abstractly, NOT!"
stereotypically, asians are very concrete-minded, getting 800 on math SAT and ewww on their verbal. they're geeks that sit around and watch CNN or something and use technology. anything that uses the word abstract turns them into a unintelligent lifeform. stereotypically.
so screw shakespeare and keep my mind of of clouds and any other light airy things that are too symbollic for me to grasp.

WAKE ME UP BEFORE I DROOL ALL OVER MYSELF
man, i've been sooo sick lately. i had a cold about 3 weeks ago, which i passed onto my dad, who passed it onto my mom and bro, and now it's back to me, and my dad says he's feeling it too. that'll make you comfortable next time you shake one of our hands, knowing the level of personal hygeine we keep lol!
last week was spiritual emphasis week, and i truly had to say i felt so tired the entire time. despite the speaker, i just could not stay awake. class time wasn't much better. i think i need to get to sleep earlier, even though i get about 8 1/2 hrs/nite. talk about a bad case of un-insomnia or whatever you would call it.
finally gained enough sanity to move my youth group's website. see it here still not done, but at least i got one thing done.
got a new TV today, it's cool but the remote has a gazillion buttons
